On 27 November 2015 a 4th rescued elephant arrived at the Mondulkiri Project. Her name is Comvine. At 30 years of age she is one of the youngest elephant in Mondulkiri. Today she was blessed by the indigenous mahouts so that she will live a long and happy life at the sanctuary.
Comvine was born at Ka Tien waterfall in Ratanakiri Province in 1985. She has been used for tourist rides all her life. Her mother, named Compouy, also worked at the waterfall. In 2013 the elephants’ owners asked us if we wanted to buy the mother but we had only just started and could not afford her. She was instead sold to Siem Reap for tourist rides. In October this same owner was about to sell Comvine to Siem Reap so the Mondulkiri Project was quick to get her for their sanctuary.
