The most popular things to do in Mondulkiri are to see elephants and to see waterfalls. Other things to do in Mondulkiri are visiting a couple of good lookouts, visiting a coffee plantation and enjoying some nice places to eat and enjoy views of nature.
There are at least 5 different companies offering you the chance to visit some of the 59 domesticated elephants still living in Mondulkiri Province. When you visit the Mondulkiri Project you are supporting a locally owned and operated elephant sanctuary. They have the perfect balance between allowing their elephants to spend the day doing exactly what elephants want to do, whilst at the same time allowing their customers the opportunity to feed and wash the elephants.
The easiest waterfall to visit when you arrive in Mondulkiri is the Sen Monorom waterfall. It is a 10 metre drop into a popular swimming hole. From the roundabout head northwest for 2.3km, turn left and proceed 1.5km.
The most famous and largest waterfall to visit in Mondulkiri is Bou Sraa. This double drop waterfall has an upper tier of 10 metres and a very impressive lower tier of 25 metres. Getting there is a 35km, one hour journey east of Sen Monorom.
Other popular waterfalls in Mondulkiri include Romanear Waterfall and Dak Dam Waterfall. Maps on how to find these two waterfalls can be located in most of the guesthouses in town.
There are two popular lookouts close to Sen Monorom which should be on your list of Things to do Mondulkiri. Closest to town is Wat Phnom Doh Kromom. It is on top of the large hill to the northeast of town and provides the best sunset views and a panorama of Sen Monorom.
The other popular lookout a bit further out of town is the Sea Forest. This provides views over a vast stretch of Mondulkiri forest.
