1 Day Elephant Sanctuary & Overnight Stay in Jungle Lodge

Spend a full day with Happy, Comvine and Princess — three rescued elephants living in a protected valley of highland forest outside Sen Monorom.

Enjoy a delicious Cambodian lunch at our jungle lodge, and then relax in hammocks.

In the afternoon we will walk to the river and waterfall where the elephants choose to swim — encouraged by bananas rather than commands.

Day One finishes with dinner and social time at the Jungle Lodge. Your Bunong guide will cook a traditional soup inside a length of bamboo over an open fire. After dinner we enjoy rice wine and card games as the jungle settles into night around you. Sleep in comfortable hammocks, complete with mosquito nets and blankets.

Day two is pancakes for breakfast and then relaxing in hammocks for 2 hours until being picked up and driven back to Sen Monorom around 10am.

8:20 - 8:30am
Pick-up from selected guesthouses in Sen Monorom, or meet at our office for guests staying elsewhere.
8:45 - 9:00am
Drive to the sanctuary entrance, with views across the protected forest valley that the Mondulkiri Project has helped preserve from logging.
9:00 - 10:00am
Arrive at the Jungle Lodge — our base deep in the forest. Meet your Bunong guide and hear the stories of Happy, Comvine and Princess — three rescued elephants who now live freely in this valley.
10.00 - 12.00pm
Walk down into the valley to meet the elephants. Spend the morning alongside them in their natural habitat — hand-feeding them, walking with them through the forest, and watching them move freely through the trees. Your Bunong guide will share what he knows about each elephant's personality, history and daily life.
12:00 - 2:00pm
Return to the Jungle Lodge for a traditional Cambodian lunch, prepared fresh and eaten overlooking the forest canopy. Time to rest in the hammocks and let the jungle sounds sink in.
2.00 - 4.30pm
We walk back to the river and then the waterfall, where Happy, Comvine and Princess often come to feed and swim — always on their own terms, never on a schedule. After heavy rain, river and waterfall activities may not be possible, for your safety and the elephants' safety in fast-flowing water.
4:30 - 5:00pm
Say "Goodbye" to the elephants and head back to the Jungle Lodge.
5.00pm onwards
Return to the Jungle Lodge and watch the sun go down over the forest. Relax by the fire as your Bunong guide cooks a traditional soup inside a length of bamboo — a method passed down through generations in the communities of Mondulkiri. After dinner we enjoy rice wine and card games as the jungle settles into night. Sleep in comfortable hammocks under mosquito nets.

All these times are an approximation.
