3 Day Elephants & Overnight Jungle Trek

* * June to September is rainy season so the walking track can be wet and slippery which makes the trek more difficult **

Who is this tour for?

This is our most demanding tour — two full days of off-trail trekking through remote jungle, river crossings, log bridges at height, and a night without showers, toilets or electricity. If you want to go deep into the forest and experience Mondulkiri the way few visitors ever do, this is the tour for you.

Day One — Into the Jungle

Drive to the Bunong village of Domrei Jon, where your trek begins. From here you head off the beaten track — crossing rivers, walking log bridges, and pushing through dense jungle toward Kbal Preah Waterfall, a 10m cascade over 20m wide. Lunch and a swim here before continuing deeper into the forest.

The day ends at a Bunong farmhouse — your camp for the night. Your guide cooks dinner over a campfire. There’s rice wine, there are hammocks, and there is no electricity, no shower and no toilet. Carry your hammock and water from here until night two.

Bring snacks for the trek and a head torch — you’ll need both.

Day Two — Deeper In

Breakfast at the farmhouse, then back into the jungle. You’ll pass working Bunong farms, visit Leng Ret Waterfall and bat cave, and stop for lunch and a swim at Leng Ong Waterfall.

The trek passes through community forest beyond our sanctuary boundary, where you’ll see firsthand the logging pressures that make protected sanctuaries like ours so important for Mondulkiri’s future.

The afternoon takes you to the 50m Leng Khin Waterfall — the highest in Mondulkiri — before crossing the Otey River and arriving at the Jungle Lodge. Campfire dinner, Bunong bamboo soup, rice wine, cards and hammocks.

Approximately 15km per day, 30km total.

Day Three — Meet the Elephants

Pancakes for breakfast, then a relaxed morning at the Jungle Lodge before heading into the valley to meet Happy, Comvine and Princess. Walk with them through the forest, feed them bananas, and observe them alongside their Bunong mahouts.

After lunch at the lodge the afternoon continues in the valley — if river levels are safe, you may see the elephants swimming at the waterfall.

By 4:00–5:00pm you’ll say goodbye to the elephants and be driven back to Sen Monorom.
